IT’S THE PERFECT TIME FOR VOIP PHONE SERVICE IN CANADA

One of the most exciting developments in recent years has been the explosion of VoIP phone service. Using this technology you can use your broadband Internet connection to make and receive telephone calls. VoIP phone service eliminates the need for traditional phone service providers and can greatly reduce your costs and at the same time give you a broad range of services such as call waiting, three-way calling, caller ID, and call forwarding. VoIP phone service also offers great potential for small business. Using simple hardware that is readily available you can link offices, provide for multiple lines, and greatly reduce long distance fees.

Switching from traditional analog phone service to VoIP phone service is surprisingly straightforward. If you want to use your Internet service while taking advantage of VoIP phone service you will need to purchase a VoIP router. This device will direct the traffic on your network and allow you to continue to use your existing telephone equipment. If you are going a simpler route and do not need Internet access but just VoIP phone, an ATA (analog telephony adapter) will allow you to get phone service and still use your existing phone hardware. VoIP phone routers and adapters have a jack that connects to your Internet connection and connections for your phones. Many VoIP service providers will supply you with the router you need as part of your subscription. Once you do your homework and start shopping for a provider you can determine if you will need to buy your own router or adapter.

So how do you find a VoIP phone service provider? This is probably the most complex of the tasks you will need to undertake when making the switch to VoIP phone. A good first place to start is with your Internet provider. If you are currently using a cable company for Internet you can research the options they provide for VoIP phone. Cable providers typically charge more for their services than do dedicated VoIP phone service companies.

In Canada, VoIP is just starting to take hold you will not have as many options as you might expect. That shouldn’t discourage you though, as the industry is poised for explosive growth. As demand continues to grow, there will no doubt be more competition in the future. Right now you can investigate Vonage, Brama, VoIPgo, and vBuzzer. Compare features, prices, and availability in your area. You are certain to find a company that offers you all the advantages of VoIP phone and make the switch easily and without worry.

If you are still using traditional phone service you owe it to yourself to investigate the advantages and cost savings that VoIP phone service can provide you. Despite the fact that VoIP phone is still in its early stages in Canada, there has never been a better time to make the switch. You will be glad you did!
