How can I use my pc to use voip?

I also want to be able to use PC software to dial and recieve calls on my voip. If it is possible, PLEASE HELP!

Most people who use VoIP over the PC use programs like Skype, Yahoo Voice, Google Talk, or Google Voice. The softphones that these services install on your PC only work with the one VoIP service that provided you with the softphone software.

There are other types of SIP based VoIP Softphones that are “open” and can be configured with any open VoIP service that allows BYOD (bring your own device). My favorite SIP Softphone (free) is from 3CX Corp. It is designed for use with their IP-PBX software, but can be used with any BYOD SIP-based VoIP service.
